Hong-Kong

Like any other destination Hong-kong too has a lot to offer from a variety of Attractions, Sight-Seeing, Wondorous Beaches, You name it!. But what makes it different from other countries is the most awesome public transport system.
They have the futuristic travel system, Be it their Railways, roadways, Airways or Seaways. Everything is just perfect in Hongkong including their people. Theft is a highly punishable offense here.

Places to Visit

I will present the Itinerary which I had followed during my Visit

Day1

We reached Hongkong airport around 2 PM. Visited Kowloon park and Symphony of Lights show on that evening.

Kowloon Park

The Kowloon Park is very vast and good for an Evening Walk. Inside there is a small fountain, pool with Flamingos and a children’s Park as well. It is not a must visit, still a beautiful place if you have some time to afford.

A Symphony of Lights show

The multimedia show will set the Harbour Ablaze every night at 8 PM. You can listen to the show’s Music at the harbourfront areas near Hongkong Cultural center in Tsim Sha Tsui and near Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai. Also, another favorite vantage point for viewing the show is from a boat on the Harbour.
This show is definitely a unique experience.

Day 2 & 3 – Disney Land

Visiting Disney land must be most of our’s childhood dream. It’s truly a fantasy world. There are a variety of fun events and rides for all the age group. Their rides aren’t scary, instead very Enjoyable and highly safe. The entire park could not be covered in a single day.

Must Try Rides and Experiences:

  1. Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars – There is a big twist in this ride, a must try
  2. Space Mountain – an Excellent thrilling ride
  3. Winnie the Pooh ride
  4.  Disney’s Flights of Fantasy Parade and the Fireworks are the best part.
  5. Festival of the Lion King show

Day 4 – OceanPark

Ocean Park is the second largest theme park in the Hongkong, first being the Disney land. Disney land is a fairytale, whereas Oceanpark is for Adventure seekers. All the rides here are highly adventurous, Especially “The Hair Raiser”. The best ever ride of my life. Ocean Park is really unique considering the Thrilling rides with Wonderful views!!

This also has a Grand Aquarium – which contains large varieties of Fish species, also features the worlds first and only 360-degree water screen show “The Symbio“.

You can also see the Amazing Asian Animals like Giant Pandas, Small-clawed Otters etc,.Ocean park puts a lot of effort into education and research about Animal conservation as well.

The best things about these theme parks are they have a high concern with our safety – Before starting the ride they check each and every cabin, every person’s safety belt and asks everyone individually whether they are comfortable or not. Be it Disney land or Ocean world, Please avoid visiting them during weekends or  Chinese holidays. It is extremely crowded and the wait time for every ride is more than an hour.

Day 5

Tian Tan Buddha

The Big Buddha /Tian Tan Buddha is located in Lantau Island and reachable via Ngong Ping Cable car. It is a big Bronze statue sited near Po Lin Monastery. It is a very popular tourist attraction. Landscapes are definitely a feast for your Eyes. To visit the statue you gotta climb 268 steps.

Mount Austin/Victoria Peak

It is the highest hill on Hongkong island. Travel up there using the funicular Tram ride and enjoy the spectacular views of skyscrapers and Victoria Harbour. The same building has other attractions like Madame Tussauds, 3D museum and a lot of food Joints.

Where to stay

We stayed in Legend Guest House(Hariliela Mansion) Nathan’s street, TST (Tsim Sha Shui). TST is in the center and almost all the attractions are easily reachable from here.
This is the best place to stay for Indians because a series of Indian restaurants are present in Chungking Mansion(just opposite to Legend Guest house)
The bus stop is near the ground floor of the Mansion, The TST station is two minutes walk. Kowloon park is very close by. Avenue of starts and The deck to watch light and sound show is 5 minutes walk. Star Ferry is a km away from here. Only On Day Two, we stayed in the Disney Explorers Lodge. The stay was great but too pricey!

Tips and Tricks for a better travel experience

  • Download the Theme park maps, the timings of the shows and prepare yourself accordingly without wasting much time discussing on the spot.
  • In the mornings the Ocean park Cable car will be too crowded. Take the Ocean Express from summit and Cable car while return from WaterFront.
  • Don’t get the tickets for Victoria peak observation deck, if it’s foggy.
  • Extensively Use public transport.
  • Don’t go to Shopping in TST
